At every gentle twist and turn,
a new panorama,
a new shape, sound and color to explore.
The Ligurian landscape —
legendary, captivating, tempting…
always romantic.
It has long been known that Ligurians feel happiest at home, preferring to do everything for themselves. This charming characteristic is also reflected in their cuisine, faithfully using local ingredients produced along the magnificent coastline, roughed terrain or from the depths of the legendary sea. The Ligurians call this nostrano or locally produced, also nicknamed cucina del ritorno or homecoming cooking. Everything from their delicate and aromatic olive oil, tangy herbs, crisp vegetables, daily sea harvests, and fresh farm eggs is of local pride.
This wonderful culinary trait is also fastidiously practiced in the production of their superb wines, lovingly made into small vintages of the highest quality — particularly the wines coming from the growing districts of Riviera Ligure di Ponente and Rossese di Dolceacqua in the west, Cinque Terre to the north of the port of La Spezia, and Colli di Luni on the border of Tuscany. Liguria is also well known for their marvelous desserts — savory cakes and pies that are a specialty of this remarkable region. And, of course, all of this marvelous cuisine can be enjoyed as one takes in the incredible land and seascapes that have made Liguria “a coveted” destination for centuries.
